Detailed Description

HDG economical diamond powder is an irregular multi angular micro powder made from low-strength synthetic diamond through crushing, shaping, and grading. Its core advantages lie in high sharpness and cost-effectiveness – by sacrificing some single particle strength in exchange for stronger self sharpening ability and cutting efficiency. The product has high particle size concentration and pure surface, and is widely used in the grinding and polishing of non-metallic materials such as ceramics, stone, glass, and concrete, as well as in the manufacturing of economical tools such as resin bonded grinding wheels, diamond elastic grinding blocks, and electroplating tools. It is an ideal choice to replace standard grade diamond powder in low load processing scenarios.

FAQ

📖 Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the difference between HDG economical diamond powder and standard diamond powder?
HDG is made from low‑strength synthetic diamond raw material with irregular, multi‑edge crystals. It offers higher sharpness and better self‑sharpening, but slightly lower single‑particle strength than standard or premium grades. It is positioned for applications where extreme durability is not required, providing higher cutting efficiency and lower cost per use.

2. Which materials are suitable for HDG?
HDG is mainly suitable for grinding, cutting and polishing of non‑metallic hard & brittle materials such as ceramics, stone (marble, granite), glass, concrete, gemstones, and cemented carbide under light‑load conditions. For high‑load grinding of metals (steel, cast iron), please choose our high‑strength grades.

3. Can HDG be used in resin‑bonded grinding wheels?
Yes. HDG is a common raw material for economical resin‑bond diamond wheels, flexible abrasives, diamond stones, etc. The irregular crystal shape provides good bonding strength with resin and high sharpness, making it suitable for applications that require high grinding efficiency with moderate surface finish requirements.

5. Does HDG easily scratch the workpiece surface?
With proper particle size and process parameters, HDG does not cause extra scratches. However, due to its irregular and sharp crystal shape, excessive pressure or wide particle size distribution may lead to deeper scratches. We recommend a trial with fine HDG before precision processing, or choose our upgraded grades with narrower distribution and more regular crystal shape.

7. How much cheaper is HDG compared to standard grades?
Typically, HDG series is 20–40% lower in price than standard grades of the same particle size and purity (depending on particle size, order quantity and market conditions). For an exact quotation, please contact our sales team with particle size, quantity, and delivery requirements.

8. Can HDG be used for precision optics or semiconductor processing?
Not recommended. High‑precision applications such as silicon wafer lapping, optical lenses, and precision bearings require diamond powder with high strength, regular crystal shape, extremely narrow particle size distribution and ultra‑high purity. HDG is an economical grade; in these scenarios it may cause scratches, edge chipping, or short tool life. Please choose our HDH (high‑strength) or HDYH (premium) series.
