Solutions In This Category
Tile finishing is a sequence, not a single step: biscuit grinding, squaring, calibrating and polishing each remove a different amount of stock. Diamond grade and grit size are chosen per step rather than per plant.
Diamond Grades For This Category
| Process step | Grade direction | Size range |
|---|---|---|
| Resin bond elastic fickert | RVD or RVG grit with HDY micron | 80# to 400# |
| Resin bond squaring wheel | RVD / RVG grit | 140# to 270# |
| Metal bond squaring wheel | MBD4 / MBD6 grit | 60# to 100# |
| Metal bond calibrating roller | MBD4 / MBD6 grit | 30# to 140# |
Selection Notes
How To Choose The Right Grade
- Match grit to the step, not to the tile: fickert removes stock, squaring sets the edge, polishing sets gloss.
- Metal bond is for stock removal on porcelain; resin bond is for the finishing sequence.
- Ask for magnetic content on the batch certificate — iron shows up as scratch marks on polished tile.
