T Titanium-Coated Diamond (HDY-T)
T Series / Grain size W7 and coarser / Monocrystalline
T Titanium-Coated Diamond (HDY-T)
T Titanium-Coated Diamond (HDY-T) is a monocrystalline grade from the T series, produced factory-direct at our own base in Zhengzhou, Henan - the Diamond Capital of China. Standard grain size range: W7 and coarser. Particle morphology: Ti-coated monocrystalline (30-50 nm). Each batch is checked for particle size distribution before packing, and can be supplied in trial quantities for process validation.
Advantage
- Dense titanium layer bonded to the particle surface
- Isolates the diamond from oxidation and graphitisation at sintering temperature
- Reduces diamond pull-out from the metal matrix
- Extends the working life of saw segments, blades and drills
- Standard choice for metal-bond stone tooling
- Ships in 7 to 10 working days

Product Overview
T Titanium-Coated Diamond (HDY-T) is monocrystalline diamond with a dense titanium layer bonded to the particle surface. The coating is there for heat: at sintering and grinding temperatures an uncoated diamond oxidises and graphitises, and the titanium layer isolates the particle from that reaction.
The second effect is retention. A coated particle bonds to the metal matrix instead of sitting inside it as a loose inclusion, which reduces pull-out and extends the working life of the segment or the crown.
Titanium coating is the standard choice for metal-bond stone tools: diamond saw segments, saw blades and drills. Supplied from W7 and coarser; confirm the base diamond grade and the coating weight you need before ordering.
Standard Grain Size Chart
Coated diamond is supplied from W7 and coarser. Below that the coating is a large share of the particle mass, so finer grades are quoted separately.

Finer grades from W3 to W5 are available with electroless nickel on request. Coating weight gain, layer uniformity and the base diamond grade are confirmed against your bond system before production.
Titanium Coating Specifications
Titanium is applied by chemical (electroless) plating so the layer forms all round the particle rather than only where a current reaches. The parameters below are the ones that decide whether a coated batch behaves in a metal-bond segment or crown.
| Item | Specification | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Titanium-coated diamond — standard parameters | ||
| Deposition route | Electroless (chemical) plating | Dense, continuous titanium layer |
| Base diamond | HDY monocrystalline micron powder | Other grades on request |
| Coating weight gain | 0.1% – 0.3% | That is 1 to 3 parts per thousand, by weight |
| Fineness limit | W7 and coarser | Finer than W7 produced to order |
| Minimum order | 2,000 ct | Per coating batch |
| Typical use | Saw segments, saw blades, drills | Metal-bond stone tooling |
Confirm the base diamond grade, the coating weight you need and the fineness before ordering — the coating weight sets how much of the particle is diamond and how much is titanium, and that in turn sets the cost per carat.

Titanium Or Nickel Coating
The coating is chosen by the bond and the temperature the tool sees. Titanium protects the diamond from heat; nickel holds it in the bond mechanically.
| Coating | How it is applied | Weight gain | What it does | Typical tools |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Titanium (Ti) | Dense titanium layer bonded to the particle surface | — | Isolates the diamond from oxidation and graphitisation during high-temperature sintering and reduces pull-out | Metal-bond stone tools: saw segments, blades and drills |
| Nickel, electroplated | Electroplated nickel layer | 30% (1.00 to 1.30) or 56% (1.00 to 1.66) | Spiky, rough layer that keys mechanically into the bond | Resin-bond wheels, electroplated burrs, diamond wire |
| Nickel, electroless (N) | Chemical nickel deposition | 30%N (1.00 to 1.42) or 56%N (1.00 to 2.27) | Uniform, non-directional layer for even holding force and better heat transfer | Same as above, with tighter coating control |
