About This Application
Cemented carbide, steel and ceramic molds and dies require mirror-like cavity finishes for injection molding, wire drawing and stamping. Diamond micron powders in paste or slurry form deliver the required surface quality.
Recommended Grades
- HDY monocrystalline micron (W50-W1) - the standard lapping and polishing grade.
- HDYM nano monocrystalline (W0.5-W0.1) - final mirror finish on hardened tool steel and carbide.
- HDH - economical Type II yellow grade for volume mold polishing.
Selection Notes
Follow a step-down sequence from coarse lapping to nano polishing; measure surface roughness between steps to avoid over-processing.
