Optical Glass Grinding & Polishing

From lenses and prisms to display glass and optical components, diamond powder drives the whole chain of grinding, lapping and polishing. Resin-bond cup and dish wheels (80#-320#) rough the edge and surface; micron powders (W50-W1) produce the final optical finish.

Recommended Grades

• HDY monocrystalline micron - the standard grade for optical lapping and polishing (W50-W1).
• HDG black micron - economical alternative for volume processing.
• HDYP polycrystalline - for scratch-free, mirror finishes on precision optics.
• MBD12-SMD25/SMD30 - resin bond grinding wheels for edge and surface grinding (80#-320#).

Selection Notes

Match the mesh/micron range to each process step: coarse grinding (80#-180#), fine grinding (180#-400#), then lapping and polishing with micron grades down to W1.
